macOS notifications are polite. A small banner slides in at the corner of the screen, waits a few seconds for you to not look at it, and slides away with your 15:00 call inside it. Politeness is the right default for most software — and exactly the wrong one for the three moments a day that actually matter.
Hejour 1.7 adds full-screen reminders. Write a time into a todo — call with Fatih at 15:00 — and at 15:00 your Mac stops being a wall of windows and becomes one sentence: the thing you promised to do. Every display, every Space. Dismiss it with a click or Esc, snooze it, or just read it and go do the thing.
Snooze that keeps your notes honest
Snooze doesn't park the reminder in some invisible queue. It rewrites the ⏰ chip in your note — hit “Snooze 10 min” and the todo on today's page now says 15:10, right there in the text. Your notes stay the single source of truth: quit Hejour, restart your Mac, the snoozed reminder survives, because it was never anywhere except in your note.
Meetings, minutes before they start
Turn on calendar reminders and Hejour reads the calendars already on your Mac — including Google, Outlook and Teams accounts — and takes the screen a few minutes before each event, on whatever lead time you pick. The one-tab-too-many problem, solved by the whole screen becoming the tab that matters.
Make it yours
The new Reminder Style pane in Settings is a full design editor with a live preview: nine presets to start from, then everything is yours to change — solid colors, gradients, your own photo, animated shader backgrounds (Aurora, Silk, Nebula…), or a solar gradient that follows the time of day from dawn to dusk. Text size and weight, button styles, a clock, a countdown — and you can save your own presets.
Strict mode, for the reminders you always skip
There is a special kind of reminder — stand up, stretch, drink water — that you dismiss by reflex before you've even read it. For those, turn on the forced break: Dismiss and Snooze stay locked for a few seconds while the button counts down “Wait 5s”. You choose how long, and whether it applies to todos, meetings, or both.
Sensible when you're away
A full-screen takeover only makes sense if you're there to see it. When your screen is asleep or locked, Hejour steps aside and the reminder arrives as a normal notification instead — visible on the lock screen. Quit the app entirely and timed todos still fire as notifications. Nothing gets lost; the screen-takeover is a privilege reserved for when you're actually sitting there.
Full-screen reminders were born in Heed, our dedicated reminder app for the Mac menu bar — Hejour 1.7 brings the same overlay, the same design language, into the place where your todos already live. They're part of Hejour Pro, along with the design editor.
